Drive equipment orders worth SEK 50 million for LKAB

• Drive systems for two belt conveyors at new Narvik ore terminal.
• Drive system for a belt conveyor at LKAB’s mine in Kiruna.
• Drive systems for three Metso installations intended for LKAB.
• Breakthrough for new high-power Gemini system.

In December Hägglunds Drives’ sales companies in Norway, Sweden and the US all received valuable orders for which LKAB will be the end user.
Two of the orders are for Hägglunds’ new high-power Gemini system. With outputs of 3,500 kW and 2,500 kW respectively, they are the biggest drive systems currently offered by Hägglunds Drives.
The orders include hydraulic motors, control systems, tanks, peripheral equipment and installation.

Showing the way
“LKAB is a world leader in its field and a very important customer for us. They are definitely showing the way for other companies,” comments Bengt Norell, Marketing Manager for Hägglunds Drives. “These orders demonstrate our scope. LKAB will be using drive systems from Hägglunds in a mine, in a pelletizing plant and in its logistics chain.
“The orders are also confirmation that our new high-power system offers benefits for many different applications.”

Major successes
The Hägglunds Drives Group, which is based in Mellansel in central Sweden, has a turnover of around SEK 1.5 billion. Earlier in 2006 Hägglunds Drives was presented with the Export Hermes award by King Carl XVl Gustaf as Swedish export company of the year, and was also chosen as Swedish export company of the year in Germany.
